Still, we already know that Nintendo is totally willing to incorporate third-party characters into Smash, as we saw with Ryu from Street Fighter being added as downloadable content, and considering the popularity of the Shovel Knight character and the new amiibo, it makes a lot of sense for Nintendo to add him to the game. I forgot that 35 is now the amount you have to meet to get that so I had to cancel my first Shovel Knight/cheap blu ray order. The existence of the Shovel Knight amiibo is very telling, and somewhat contradicts rumors that Shovel Knight is being added to Super Smash Bros. as future DLC since the character would likely get his own Smash-centric amiibo as well. I decided to buy my Shovel Knight along with an Enesco Disney figurine on my wishlist to qualify for free shipping. Specifically, future titles from Yacht Club Games on Nintendo platforms are mentioned, though as of the time of this writing, the only project from Yacht Club that we know is in development is the Plague of Shadows expansion for Shovel Knight. Presumably, it will unlock new content in the Wii U and 3DS versions of the actual Shovel Knight game, and it wouldn't be surprising to see functionality for the Shovel Knight amiibo added to amiibo-heavy Nintendo titles that are already out, or will be available in the near future. The information from GAME indicates that the Shovel Knight amiibo will be compatible with multiple games. The news was leaked by UK game retailer GAME, who posted an image of the Shovel Knight amiibo on Twitter, along with some additional bits of information that hint at the amiibo's specific functionality. Yacht Club Games says they aren't intentionally limiting supply, so don't feel like you. As it turns out, Shovel Knight is getting his very own amiibo. Releasing in December, you can pre-order the Shovel Knight Gold Edition amiibo via GameStop and Best Buy.
